Road Check Week is June 6-8

Please make sure ALL your lights are working and NO air lines hanging anywhere near the truck frame. Make sure there are NO air leaks. If they hear one, they dig deeper and you do not want that. If they wiggle your glad hands and the rubber glad hand seal leaks, you are getting a citation most likely. Those glad hand seals are cheap. Make sure yours are in good shape. Make sure tires are properly inflated. If you have a bad tire or one right on the border line, now is a good time to replace it. There is no sense getting these types of avoidable tickets on your SMS scores for the next 24 months.

Tell fellow truckers who has not washed their truck recently it would be a good idea to do so as a bug covered truck makes DOT think the rest of the truck is not being checked over.

If you are running tarps, please make sure you are tarped if loaded no matter how close your dump site is. At a recent DOT garage meeting they said there is no exemption if you are within ANY short distance from your drop off. Of course, off site mine haulers will not deal with DOT in this case.

Final note is there have been more trailer axle positioning tickets lately. Please check you locking pins and handle securement.
